Avalanche is a new blockchain network with sub-second transaction times and low fees. Created by Ava Labs, a company led by Cornell researcher Emin Sirer, the project launched its mainnet in September 2020. AVAX is the capped supply native token of the Avalanche platform. Participants can become full block-producers and validators by staking AVAX and are incentivized to do so because of staking rewards.
